Papers of Irene Cornwell, a teacher of French from Ann Arbor, Michigan. There is correspondence (1912-1913; 1914-1916, 1918; and 1919-1920, 1924); and miscellaneous papers, mostly undated. Includes information on her admission and attendance at a teachers college in Sĕvres, France (ca. 1913-1915); applications and arrangements for teaching positions in Michigan and at H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in New Orleans, Louisiana; and her work in France after World War I (1919), helping arrange for the establishment of children's day schools. A major portion of the collection is in French, with English translations.
